Various hadiths describe the houris (virgins of Paradise): ‘A houri is a beautiful woman… the marrow of her shin is visible through her skin… her buttocks are a mile wide…’ (in addition to houris, Paradise is also described as having wet nurses). (other rewards in Paradise include flying ruby horses).
Such descriptions of the houris appear in various hadith collections and tafsir works. While these texts describe heavenly rewards, other hadiths detail why women are the majority population in Hell.
