Abu Hurayrah narrated from the Prophet, narrating from his Lord: ‘A servant committed a sin and said: O Allah, forgive me my sin. Allah said: My servant committed a sin and knew that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for sins. Then he sinned again and said: O Lord, forgive me my sin. Allah said: My servant committed a sin and knew that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for sins. Then he sinned again and said: O Lord, forgive me my sin. Allah said: My servant committed a sin and knew that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for sins. Do what you want – I have forgiven you.’

Sahih Muslim

This hadith suggests unlimited forgiveness regardless of repeated sins (a concept some have labeled the ‘five prayers’ sin scam’).
