Allah Descends to Judge Between His Servants

The “Last Man Crawling Into Paradise” Hadith: Sunan al-Tirmidhi’s Embarrassing Cartoon Where Allah Descends and Haggles Like a Desert Trader

Pragmatic Introduction for Polemicists This is yet another masterpiece of 7th-century Arabian storytelling, proudly recorded in Sunan al-Tirmidhi and narrated by the usual suspect — Abu Hurayrah. A pathetic sinner crawls out of Hell, repeatedly begs Allah to let him into Paradise, and the supposed Creator of the universe descends to earth for a long, theatrical back-and-forth negotiation, eventually laughing and giving the man the entire world plus ten times more. This isn’t divine justice or mercy. This is primitive folklore designed to entertain, emotionally manipulate, and keep desperate followers hooked on the system Muhammad built.

The Hadith Text (Sunan al-Tirmidhi)

Shufayy al-Asbahi narrated that he entered Medina and saw a man around whom people had gathered. He asked: ‘Who is this?’ They said: ‘Abu Hurayrah.’ He approached and sat before him. Abu Hurayrah was narrating from the Prophet who said: ‘The last to leave Paradise and enter it will be a man who comes on the Day of Resurrection and says: Lord, admit me to Paradise.’

It continues describing the full dramatic dialogue: the man repeatedly begs, claims Paradise looks full, Allah keeps granting him more and more (up to the equivalent of the entire world ten times over), and the narration explicitly includes Allah descending to judge between His servants.

Authenticity

Accepted in Sunan al-Tirmidhi (one of the six major collections) and cross-referenced in the two “most authentic” books — Bukhari and Muslim. No weak-chain escape. This is mainstream, undisputed Islamic scripture.

Critical Polemical Analysis: Why This Screams “Man-Made”

  1. Allah Physically Descends and Haggles Like a Used-Camel Salesman The eternal, transcendent God of the universe comes down to personally bargain with one crawling sinner? “Paradise is full… okay, take the whole world… and ten more like it”? This is exactly how a 7th-century Bedouin storyteller would depict a generous sheikh — not the infinite Creator.
  2. Cartoon-Level Absurdity A man crawling on all fours out of Hell, repeatedly telling Allah “no room left,” and Allah playing along with escalating rewards until He laughs. This belongs in Arabian Nights or a children’s fairy tale, not in the supposed final revelation to mankind.
  3. Abu Hurayrah — The Hadith Factory Strikes Again The same companion who gave us talking thighs, the pebble rule, the 70,000 without reckoning, and hundreds of other convenient miracles is once again the star narrator. The man who produced over 5,300 hadiths somehow always heard the most dramatic, crowd-pleasing ones when no one else was around.
  4. Emotional Bait for Sinners The story screams: “No matter how evil you are, just beg hard enough and Allah will let you in.” Perfect psychological trap to stop people from leaving Islam out of guilt or fear — while making the religion look “merciful” to outsiders.
  5. Zero Theological Sophistication No real justice, no moral accounting, just theatrical begging and divine showmanship. An all-knowing God wouldn’t need this soap-opera dialogue. A clever desert preacher inventing material to control and entertain his followers absolutely would.

Bottom Line for Any Honest Observer

This hadith does not sound like the words of the All-Powerful, All-Knowing Creator of the universe. It sounds exactly like what a gifted 7th-century Arab storyteller would invent around the campfire to thrill, comfort, and emotionally bind his audience: “Even the last loser crawling out of Hell can beg his way into Paradise while Allah plays generous uncle.”

Allah descending. Endless haggling. Crawling sinners getting ten worlds. Laughter from the divine throne.

This is not revelation. This is man-made religious entertainment, pure and simple.

The fact that it sits comfortably in Tirmidhi, Bukhari, and Muslim only confirms how deeply human the entire Islamic tradition is.
