Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: ‘Moses was a shy man who covered himself. None of his skin was seen due to his modesty. Some of the Children of Israel hurt him by saying: He only covers himself because of some defect in his skin – either leprosy, hernia, or some affliction. Allah wanted to clear him of what they said. One day Moses was alone. He put his clothes on a stone, then bathed. When he finished, he came to take his clothes, but the stone fled with his garment. Moses took his staff and chased the stone, saying: My garment, O stone! My garment, O stone! – until he reached a group of the Children of Israel who saw him naked, the best of what Allah created, and he was cleared of what they said. The stone stopped and he took his garment and began striking the stone with his staff. By Allah, the stone still has three, four, or five marks from Moses’ striking.’
